Nintendo’s “Splatoon 3” Ad confirms Daft Punk collaboration

On February 22nd, 2021, the Daft Punk duo announced their musical end. After all, the artists are now cooperating with Nintendo for the game “Splatoon 3” and are swapping in the promo …

After 28 years together the French French house duo Daft Punk decided to break up. In a farewell video, which, according to their style, was uploaded to the net without many words or big promo, the “Get Lucky” interpreters Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter announced the end of their collaboration. Press spokeswoman Kathryn Frazier also confirmed the separation to “Pitchfork”, but gave no reason. Instead, the almost eight-minute long (recycled) clip “Epilogue” in which the couple goes for a walk in the desert before one member stops, takes off his Daft Punk jacket and his “battery” is switched off by the other. They then say goodbye before Daft Punk’s song “Touch” was played and one of the two members exploded …

The clip “Epilogue” has meanwhile been viewed over 24.6 million times and should actually confirm the end of a longstanding cooperation. But fans are no longer so sure whether it was actually a goodbye or just a promo move and the reason is obvious:

At the end of March 2021, Nintendo placed a new advertisement for the shooter game “Splatoon 3” in the Japanese manga magazine “CoroCoro”, which should be presented in 2022. Fittingly, a “Daft Punk Airlines” poster can be seen on one side in the lower left corner of the picture, in which the duo with their typical helmets in shorts and tropical shirts walk towards the plane on a red carpet. The slogan “Around The World” is also visible.

On another page of the magazine, the Nintendo team orientated itself on the last scenes of the duo, which had said goodbye to each other in a desert …

Whether the characters from Daft Punk will actually only appear in the shooter game or whether the French duo have developed the soundtrack for the game “Splatoon 3” and will drop this as the last joint project in 2022 has not yet been explained in more detail. In any case, fans would be happy about the latter idea and excitedly declared:

The guys from Daft Punk I didn’t speak up about all the rumors or drawings. Her own Instagram account has not had any new photos or pictures since the promo posts from “Face to Face” in November 2017.
