New CD edition: The musical greatness of Karl Richter

Today one can hardly imagine the enormous influence of the organist, harpsichordist, choir director and conductor Karl Richter not only on the musical life in Munich, but also in the whole country, in East and West. Through his work in Leipzig and then particularly in Munich, Richter initiated a veritable Bach renaissance on which others, such as Gustav Leonhardt, Glenn Gould and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, could easily build – this can be seen in the recently published edition “Karl Richter.
